The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced Atishi as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. This decision was taken in the meeting of the Legislature Party. Arvind Kejriwal himself proposed the name of Atishi for the post of CM. With this, Atishi has become the third female CM of Delhi and the 17th female CM of any state in India.

Sheila Dikshit remained CM for the longest time

The name of Sheila Dikshit, who was the CM of Delhi, comes at the top of this list. She created history by running the government of Delhi for 15 years and 25 days. This was the first time in the history of independent India that a woman CM ruled a state for such a long time. This record is registered in her name.

J Jayalalithaa is second on the list

The name of Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa comes second on the list. She was the CM of the state for 14 years and 124 days.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is at number three on the list, she has been running the government for 13 years and 100+ days.

Vasundhara Raje is at number four, she was the CM in Rajasthan for 10 years and 9 days.

Mayawati, who was the CM of UP, is the fifth woman CM of the country. She held the post of CM of Uttar Pradesh for 7 years and 5 days.
