Gopichand Hinduja is the chairman of the Hinduja Group and Hinduja Automotive Limited, UK. He is referred to as ‘GP’ in the business world. His business conglomerate is spread over various sectors such as vehicle manufacturing, cable television, and banking. The Hinduja Group operates in 48 countries and is recognized as a multinational company. 

Family history

Hinduja family’s business began some 100 years ago in a small village which is a part of Pakistan today. This business group was founded by Parmanand Hinduja in 1914 in the town of Shikarpur. His four sons, Gopichand, Srichand, Prakash, and Ashok Hinduja expanded the business globally. After the demise of the eldest brother, Srichand Hinduja, in May last year, Gopichand Hinduja took over as the chairman of the company.

Education and career

Gopichand Hinduja graduated from Jai Hind College, Mumbai. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Law from the University of Westminster and an Honorary Doctorate of Economics from Richmond College, London. He officially joined the family business in the year 1959. The Hinduja Group works in diverse range of sectors like automotive, healthcare, infrastructure, entertainment, IT, media, cybersecurity, banking, finance, and more.
