A heartbreaking video has surfaced on the internet where an elephant is mourning the death of his mother. The video is from the forests of Northern Odisha and shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda on X (formerly Twitter). 

The caption read, "The matriarch died of old age. The sub adult bull of the herd kept grieving and didn’t move an inch for almost a day trying to wake it up… From the forests of Northern Odisha"

 

 

The post has over 20.3K views and several comments from users who expressed their thoughts about the post. In the photos, the elephant can be seen grieving next to the body of his mother and crying. 

One user wrote, "That's so heartbreaking. Animals feel deep emotions too."

Another user wrote, "It is a challenging situation for the wild elephants to move freely for which conflict between man and elephant going on rise in Odisha's mineral dominated Keonjhar district."
