Chennai: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Saturday urged the Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit to take legal action against chief minister K Palaniswami and others for using the State Secretariat for their party activities.

DMK's organising secretary, RS Bharathi stated in Chennai that the party objected to the use of the Secretariat to re-admit former Member of Parliament KC Palanisamy into the AIADMK on Friday and demanded action against Palaniswami, deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam and chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan.

The State Secretariat should be used only for official purposes, Bharathi said.

Contrary to the rules and the oath taken by the chief minister, who is also the joint coordinator of the AIADMK along with Panneerselvam, he misused the secretariat for their party activity, Bharathi alleged.

Bharathi said Purohit should seek an explanation from the three and take necessary action.

Earlier, the DMK on Thursday closed its doors for an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha election and said that they will not allow any more parties in its fold.

However, the party president MK Stalin confirmed that the DMK will contest from 20 out of 39 seats.
