Bengaluru: Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla has urged his countrymen to stay resolute in their dedication to eradicate the coronavirus.
He said, “I urge everyone to remain resolute in their dedication to eradicate the virus. I further urge everyone to remain vigilant. In this war against COVID-19, we have to fight and we have to win."
The Lok Sabha Speaker also said, "Self-disciplined way of life has emerged as the identity of New India."
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the measures he has taken to curb the spread of the virus.
Presently, India is under lockdown. It will go on till April 14. From sources, it has been learnt that the lockdown may be extended till April 30 with a view to contain the spread of the virus all the more.
The Prime Minister will make an announcement in this regard after he meets the CMs on April 11. In all likelihood, the lockdown will continue. Several states have asked PM Modi to continue with the lockdown. Even several health experts have opined the same.
Experts have also asked the people to wash their hands regularly and maintain social distancing. Union health minister Harsh Vardhan too has appealed to the people to follow guidelines issued by the government.
He even added that these are only ways available to keep the spread at bay.
Prime minister Narendra Modi has also been thanked by US President Donald Trump and Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro for his decision to export HCQ.
The PM also tweeted in this regard, “We have to jointly fight this pandemic. India is ready to do whatever is possible to help our friends. Praying for the well-being and good health of the people of Israel.”
He was responding to Israel PM’s praising him for his decision to export the drug.
