A firestorm of controversy ignited on Sunday after a provocative video featuring a senior General Manager of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL)—a prestigious subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL) surfaced on social media. In the footage shared on Instagram, the official is seen removing the shoes and adjusting the pajamas of Union Minister of State for Coal, Satish Chandra Dubey, as he prepared to enter the Munidih underground mine.

The video, which has rapidly gone viral, captured the BCCL official in a compromising position, leaving many to question the propriety of the scene. When approached for a comment, the involved official declined to provide any statements, opting to reserve his response until he had reviewed the footage in question.

The video prompted an immediate and impassioned reaction from Dhanbad's district Congress president, Santosh Singh. Singh expressed profound astonishment at the incident, denouncing it as an affront to the dignity of the BCCL officer involved. In a sharp critique, Singh demanded an apology from Minister Dubey and suggested with biting sarcasm that the minister ought to elevate the official to the position of CMD "in utter disregard of all norms, as a reward for sycophancy."

The viral grabbed attention of the users online who criticized the officer's act. A user commented, "He must have become GM also by lifting shoes, pajamas and whatnot, in govt organizations such people get promoted on fast track."

"If an official does not have self respect why blame the neta?, another user commented.

During his visit to the region, Minister Dubey conducted an inspection of several critical areas, including the subsidence-prone zones near Sendra-Bansjora, the fire-affected Ena colliery, and the Munidih underground mine.

In addition to his inspection duties, he inaugurated a mini science laboratory funded under CIL's Corporate Social Responsibility scheme at a government high school in Rajganj.
