Guwahati: Tirong Aboh, the sitting National People's Party (NPP) MLA from Khonsa West Assembly constituency, was shot dead on Tuesday by suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) militants in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district. 

Aboh’s son and nine people were also killed in the ambush allegedly led by the Naga outfit group. Aboh's PSO is also said to be in a critical condition

According to the reports, the incident took place at around 11 am near Bogapani area under the Khonsa circle of the district.


 
Soon after Aboh’s convoy was attacked, cops and other security forces officials rushed to the spot, said Arunachal Pradesh police IGP Sunil Garg. 

A massive hunt has been launched.

Aboh contested the Assembly elections on a National People’s Party (NPP) ticket this year.
 
Meanwhile, Meghalaya chief minister and NPP chief Conrad Sangma has condemned the attack and urged Prime Minister and Union home minister to take action against those responsible for such attack.
 
“The NPP is extremely shocked and saddened by the news of the death of its MLA Shri Tirong Aboh (Arunachal Pradesh) and his family. We condemn the brutal attack and urge @rajnathsingh and @PMOIndia to take action against those responsible for such attack,” Conrad tweeted.
