Bengaluru: Vidya Bharati is the student wing of the Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It runs schools and enrols students from across religions.

In the state of Uttar Pradesh, the schools run by the student wing have seen an increase of 30 percent of Muslim students enrolling themselves in these schools, in the last 3 years.

Not just Muslim students, even Christian students study here.

As reported by a popular website, Chintamani Singh, additional secretary, Vidya Bharati (East Uttar Pradesh), said, “As many as 12,000 Muslim and Christian students are studying in our schools in UP. Around 9,037 Muslim and 10 Christian students are pursuing studies in 1,194 schools in east UP. The remaining are in west UP.” Additionally, the schools have recruited Muslims teachers as well.
The website also noted that Muslim students not only excel in academics but also recite ‘shlokas’ and ‘bhojan mantras’.

In the field of sports, it noted that in the recently concluded ‘Khelo India Youth Games’ held in Guwahati Mohammad Afsar and Mohammad Sahban, students of Jwala Devi Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College, Prayagraj, won gold in the hammer throw.

With the motto as Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye (That Is Knowledge Which Liberates) the student wing of the RSS operates 12000 schools across the nation, with over 32,00,000 students on the rolls.
Another website noted that the organisation advocates "Indianization, nationalization and spiritualization" of education.”

In the areas of study that are peripheral to the core curriculum, like physical education, music and cultural education, the institution worked out its own curriculum, the website added.

The phenomenal rise in the students joining the RSS-run schools is being seen as a desire to get quality education.
