In the heart of Sector 23, Sonipat, Haryana, more than 30 children rise each morning with aspirations for a better future. These kids, who used to drive rickshaws or work as painters and waiters, now find hope through the unwavering support of a dedicated Delhi Police constable. Amit Lathia has taken it upon himself to uplift over 350 underprivileged children, helping them secure government jobs and guiding them towards a transformative life path.
Around 12 years ago, Constable Amit began his remarkable initiative to adopt and care for poor children. He not only provided them with free education but also arranged for their accommodation and meals. Devoting a significant portion of his monthly income to support these underprivileged children, he ensures they have the resources they need, keeping only what is necessary for his own expenses.
Amit has rented four flats in Sonipat to provide for these children, equipping them with a dedicated study area, comfortable beds, and a library. Through these arrangements, he has become a vital support system for 350 children, helping 185 of them to crack government exams and secure jobs in SSC, HSSC, and Chandigarh Police.
Constable Amit, born into a poor farming family, has dedicated his life to supporting underprivileged children. His journey was far from easy; despite the struggles he faced, Amit persevered and became a constable in the Delhi Police through sheer hard work and determination. The challenges he experienced in his own life inspired him to give back and uplift others in need.
Amit’s wife, Manju, has joined him in this inspiring initiative, working alongside him and their companions. As a math professor at a government college in Sonipat, Manju plays a crucial role in the children's education while also managing household expenses. Together, they have transformed the lives of hundreds of children and remain committed to extending their selfless service to help even more in the future.
Amit seeks support in ways other than financial contributions. While he has received numerous awards for his efforts, he emphasizes that his motivation is rooted in humanity, not accolades. He believes that with the right resources, he can extend his reach to help even more children. Instead of money, he encourages people to donate items like stationery, notebooks, old books, and food supplies, all of which can brighten the futures of these children. Anyone can contribute to this noble cause and make a difference in their lives.
