Indian Railways is working towards increasing the number of trains to accommodate more passengers
With a view to reduce waitlisting, the Indian Railways is planning to increase trains.
As per a few media reports, the department wants to do away with the idea of waitlisting. But the department confirmed that was not the case.
The Railways is also working hard to ensure that more trains are on track to meet the demand of its passengers.
Currently, Indian Railways is running 1,089 passenger trains compared to 1,768 trains prior to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
Waitlisting is a provision in which passengers are accommodated as and when the earlier bookings are withdrawn, thereby making the seats available for other customers.
