The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police arrested Arora for allegedly cheating filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani
Mumbai: Producer Prerna Arora has been charged under sections 420 (cheating) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai, a senior official said on Saturday.
She has been accused of scamming filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani of Rs 31.6 crore promising exclusive rights of a film. Arora was arrested Friday and has been remanded in EOW custody till 10 December.
According to a FirstPost report, Bhagnani claimed he was given parallel rights for films Fanney Khan and Batti Gul Meter Chalu by Arora's company KriArj Entertainment. He had also filed a petition wherein he claimed that the proprietors of the film should be held accountable for a loss of investments amounting to nearly Rs 15 crore.
Prerna and her production house have also been embroiled in many such controversies in the past including spats with director Abhishek Kapoor and actor-producer John Abraham.
