Bengaluru: Being the first woman from the Rajkumar family to enter the film industry, Dhanya Ramkumar, granddaughter of the late Kannada superstar Rajkumar, is all set to make her debut in Sandalwood. She will be following in the footsteps of her grandfather and uncles by doing so. She is the daughter of Rajkumar’s daughter Poornima Rajkumar.

Her debut film will be a romantic comedy, Ninna Sanihake, directed by Suman Jadugar. The director has worked as an assistant director in several films including Kamal Haasan’s Uttama Villain. 

Dhanya will be paired opposite Suraj Gowda, who made his commercial debut in Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole.

The actress reportedly said in an earlier interview that it was the story that clinched it for her. She said that she could picture herself doing that role when she heard the narration and that her mother also had the same opinion. She also said that the team seemed to be much more passionate and driven compared to others she had met, which made her accept the role, reports said.

Raghu Dixit is composing tunes for the movie. While the groundwork for the movie is currently on, the team will begin work in August.

While the actress is making her debut, her brother Dheeraj is also set to make his debut this year with the movie Daari Tappida Maga.
