Mithun Chakraborty is set to be awarded the esteemed Dadasaheb Phalke Award, as announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who oversees Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics, and IT. In a post on X, Vaishnaw celebrated the veteran actor's remarkable cinematic journey and his significant contributions to Indian cinema.

Mithun Chakraborty is a celebrated Indian actor and filmmaker, renowned for his versatile performances across various film genres. He gained iconic status in the 1980s and 1990s with hits like "Disco Dancer" and "Dance Dance," becoming a cultural phenomenon. Beyond acting, Chakraborty has also made significant contributions to Indian cinema as a producer and politician.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Ashwini Vaishnaw praised Mithun's remarkable career, noting that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury honored him for his significant contributions to the film industry. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 8, 2024, during the 70th National Film Awards.

Just a few months after being awarded the Padma Bhushan by President Droupadi Murmu in April, Mithun is now set to receive this latest honour. Upon hearing the news of the Padma Bhushan, he expressed his delight, noting that he had never requested such accolades. He recalled feeling momentarily speechless when he received the call from the Home Ministry, as he had not anticipated the recognition.

Over the years, Mithun Chakraborty has made his mark in Indian cinema with an impressive array of films, including Agneepath, Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye, Hum Se Hai Zamana, Pasand Apni Apni, Ghar Ek Mandir, and Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki.
