In a candid revelation, Manisha Koirala reflects on rejecting "Dil Toh Pagal Hai" due to insecurities, expressing regret and the importance of overcoming fear in her career journey
In a recent interview, Manisha Koirala candidly shared insights into her career choices, revealing one particular decision she now regrets: turning down a role in Yash Chopra's iconic film, "Dil Toh Pagal Hai." The actress disclosed that she withdrew from the project due to feeling intimidated by the prospect of being cast opposite Madhuri Dixit.
Koirala, who is anticipating a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Heeramandi," admitted to succumbing to "silly insecurities" at that time. Reflecting on her missed opportunity, she expressed remorse for letting fear guide her decision-making process.
The role eventually portrayed by Karisma Kapoor as Nisha was initially offered to several other leading actresses, including Urmila Matondkar, Kajol, Raveena Tandon, Juhi Chawla, and Manisha Koirala. However, Koirala is among those who look back with regret on declining the offer.
During an interaction with India Today, Koirala elaborated, acknowledging the allure of working with a maestro like Yash Chopra, renowned for his portrayal of women on-screen. She recounted approaching Chopra with her apprehensions, expressing her aspiration to be his heroine independently rather than being cast against the formidable Madhuri Dixit. However, in hindsight, she recognized it as a missed opportunity driven by unwarranted trepidation.

Recognizing the importance of overcoming insecurities and embracing confidence, she affirmed her commitment to not repeating past mistakes.
In her forthcoming project, "Heeramandi," Koirala will share the screen with a talented ensemble cast, including Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Richa Chadha, Sonakshi Sinha, and Sharmin Segal. With this endeavor, she aims to reclaim her space in the industry and showcase her versatility as an actress.
