Bollywood actor Abhay Deol will play the villain in Hero. This is his second film in Kollywood. The yet-to-be released Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kathai, starring Ashwin Kakumanu and Aishwarya Rajesh, is the first film. Deol took to Twitter to express his excitement in having set foot into the Tamil film industry.

Deol reportedly learnt to speak Tamil, which would help him deliver better, with respect to both the films.
Kalyani Priyadarshan, the daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan and Malayalam actor Lissy, is all set for her debut in Tamil with this film. She has earlier acted in the Telugu film Chitralahari.
Hero, produced by Kotapadi Rajesh, the producer of Aramm and the distributor of Viswasam, went to floors in March this year. George C. Williams is the cinematographer and Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director.
While Abhay Deol was last seen in the Netflix film Chopsticks along with Mithila Palkar, Sivakarthikeyan's earlier film was Mr Local.
