Ranveer Singh, along with actress Kriti Sanon, had recently graced the ramp as showstoppers for designer Manish Malhotra's fashion presentation at Varanasi's Namo Ghat. Before the event, the duo visited the revered Vishwanath temple, where they engaged in discussions about their spiritual experiences, adding a touch of cultural significance to their visit.
The emergence of the AI-generated political endorsement video comes in the wake of a similar incident involving Aamir Khan, who also fell victim to deepfake technology. Mumbai Police have taken action in response to these incidents, filing FIRs against unnamed individuals connected to the creation and dissemination of these manipulated videos. The FIR against the deepfake video featuring Aamir Khan was lodged at the Khar police station, following a complaint from the actor's office. The complaint cited relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 419 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating), along with provisions of the Information Technology Act.

In the 27-second deepfake footage, Aamir Khan is depicted discussing the importance of avoiding hyperbole (jumla), seemingly taken from a decade-old episode of his television program, Satyamev Jayate. However, a representative for Aamir Khan clarified that while the actor has previously participated in election awareness campaigns organized by the Election Commission, he has never officially endorsed any political party.
