Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar's highly awaited movie of the year 2.0 finally gets a release date. The movie is set to hit the silver screens on November 29, 2018.
According to reports, Akshay was not the first choice to play the second lead in Rajinikanth's 2.0, and he came on board after Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kamal Haasan opted out of the film.
In an interview with, Ananda Vikatan, Shankar has said that Hollywood's Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was the special guest at the director's I audio launch in Chennai, was approached to play the second lead in 2.0 after realising that he was in awe of Chitti's character in Endhiran - The Robot.
He also wanted Kamal Haasan for the same character. However, Kamal was more interested in working on a sequel to Indian than 2.0.
According to a few reports, the maverick filmmaker added that Lyca Productions was in talks with Akshay Kumar for the remake of Kaththi in Bollywood and came up with the idea to cast him for the role.
Later, Shankar narrated the story to Akshay, who was thrilled with the storyline and gave the green signal for the movie.
Shankar also revealed that Akshay is not playing the negative role, but his role has multiple shades.
Lyca Productions has spent over Rs 500 crore on the project and it will hit the screens in multiple languages on November 29. The trailer of 2.0 is all set to be launched on Saturday, November 3. 2.0 is a sequel to Tamil hit Enthiran (also Robot in Hindi).
