New Delhi: Leaders of political parties have intensified their efforts to woo voters as the campaigning for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections comes to an end this evening.

97 constituencies spread over 13 States and one Union Territory will go to polls in this phase on Thursday, April 18.

All 39 Parliamentary constituencies of Tamil Nadu, 14 in Karnataka, 10 Maharashtra, 8 Uttar Pradesh, 5 each in Assam, Bihar and Odisha, 3 each in Chhattisgarh and  Bengal, 2 in Jammu and Kashmir and one each in Manipur, Tripura and Puducherry will be covered in this phase.

Tripura

Tripura will go to polls in the 2nd phase for the Parliamentary Constituency of ‘East Tripura’ on 18th April. 10 candidates, including 2 women, are in the fray for East Tripura Lok Sabha seat.

A total of 12,57,944 voters, including 6,37,649 males, 6,20,291 females and 4 voters in the Third Gender category, will cast their votes in this phase. 

1645 Polling station are in place for facilitating smooth conduct of polls.

Karnataka

The state of Karnataka will go to polls in phase 2 of the General Elections on April 18. Out of the total 28, only14 Parliamentary constituencies in the state are scheduled to go to polls in the second phase. The state has two-phase polling.

Karnataka has a total electorate of 2,63,38,277out of which 1,33,52,234 are male electors, 1,29,83,284are female electors and 2,759 belong to the third gender category. There are 30,410 polling stations set up in the state.

There are a total of 241 candidates ( out of which 17 are women) in the fray.

Karnataka saw close contests in as many as 4 Lok Sabha seats in the 2014 General Election, where the winning margin was less than 10,000 votes – Raichur, Chikkodi, Mandya, and Chikkballapur.

Bihar

Bihar will go to polls in the 2nd Phase of General Elections on April 18. Polling will be held in 5 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) of Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Banka. 68 candidates are contesting for these 5 Lok Sabha seats.

Total 85,52,274 voters, which includes 44,92,599 males, 40,59,375 females and 300 voters in Third Gender category, will cast ballots in this phase.

8,644 polling stations have been set up for the smooth conduct of elections in the 2nd Phase.

Manipur

Manipur will go to Polls in the second phase of General Elections on April 18. Polling will be held in one Lok Sabha Constituency ‘Manipur Inner’. 11 candidates, including 4 Independent candidates are contesting for this seat.

In this phase, total 9,28,626 voters, including 4,47,843 males, 4,80,751 females and 32 in Third Gender category will cast their ballots. 1300 Polling stations are set up for smooth conduct of Elections in the state.

Jammu and Kashmir

In the second phase of General Elections 2019, Srinagar and Udhampur parliamentary constituencies (PC) would be going to polls on April 18. Nine districts would be covered in the two PCs. These are Ganderbal, Srinagar and Budgam in Srinagar (PC No. 2) and Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur and Kathua in Udhampur (PC No. 5). All the PC seats in Phase II belong to the General category.

There are a total of 29,60,027 general electors in the two PCs, out of which 15,43,571 are general male electors, 14,16,387 general female electors and 69 third gender electors. In addition to this, there are 21,056 service electors and 16,528 persons with disabilities (PWD) in Phase II. A total of 4,426 polling stations have been set up for this phase.

In General Election 2014, there were a total of 26,76,302 electors in these two Parliamentary Constituencies. This number has grown to 29,60,027 during General Elections 2019, which is an increase of 2,83,725 (10.6%) electors since the last General Elections.

An interesting insight regarding these two PCs is that, in the last General Elections, Srinagar PC witnessed the lowest voter turnout in the country at 25.86%, whereas Udhampur saw a 70.95% voter turnout.

In Phase II, a total of 12 candidates from different Political Parties are contesting from Srinagar PC. Similarly, a total of 12 candidates are contesting from Udhampur PC.

Assam

Assam will go to polls in the second phase of General Elections on April 18. Polling will be held in 5 Lok Sabha Seats of Karimganj, Silchar, Autonomous District, Mangaldoi and Nawgong.

50 candidates, including 3 women, 19 Independents and 7 others, will be contesting for these 5 Lok Sabha seats.

69,10,592 voters comprising of 35,54,460 males, 33,55,952 females and 180 voters in the Third Gender category will cast their votes in this phase.

8,992 Polling stations have been set up for smooth conduct of polls in the state.
