When is Sawan Shivratri 2024?

According to religious texts, Shivratri is observed on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha each month. This year, the Chaturdashi tithi of Sawan Krishna Paksha will begin at 3:27 PM on Friday, August 2, and continue until 3:50 PM on Saturday, August 3. Since Shivratri worship is conducted at night, the fast will be observed on August 2. Padma and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga will occur on this day, adding to the significance of the fast.

The auspicious times for performing puja on Sawan Shivratri 2024 are as follows:

•    Puja: 07:11 PM to 09:49 PM
•    Puja: 09:49 PM to 12:27 AM
•    Puja: 12:27 AM to 03:06 AM
•    Puja: 03:06 AM to 05:44 AM

Puja Vidhi

•    On the morning of August 2, Friday, take a bath and resolve to fast and worship. Maintain the fast throughout the day, allowing for fruit consumption once.

•    Chant the mantra ‘Om Namah Shivay’ continuously during Puja.

•    Bathe and prepare before the first night phase, i.e., before 7 PM, and then begin the worship of Lord Shiva. Start by anointing the Shivling with water.

•    Light a lamp with pure ghee, apply sandalwood tilak to the Shivling, and offer flowers, Bilva leaves, Datika flowers, and Dhatura.

•    Throughout the ritual, keep chanting 'Om Namah Shivay.' Offer food to Lord Shiva according to your preference and perform the aarti. Continue this worship during all four night phases.
