Visakhapatnam: Karnataka’s Devdutt Padikkal hit a century to set records against Andhra in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Twenty20 tournament.
The 19-year-old Padikkal smashed a 60-ball 122 not out with 13 fours and seven sixes. Thanks to the left-hander’s record-breaking knock, Karnataka won by five wickets on Monday (November 11).

Padikkal registered the highest T20 score by an Indian while chasing. He is also the highest individual scorer for Karnataka in T20s. Also, he is the third youngest to score a century in Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.
Karnataka were in trouble at 7/2 in pursuit of 185. At this stage, Padikkal walked in to bat. It was Padikkal who defied the Andhra attack with scintillating strokeplay and took the team home. The next best score for Karnataka was 35 from Krishnappa Gowtham. Captain Karun Nair was run out for three.
Padikkal has been in red-hot form in recent times. He had played a key role in Karnataka’s Vijay Hazare Trophy title win. The youngster had aggregated 609 runs with five fifties and two centuries in the 50-over tournament.
