The Karnataka government has recently announced a significant change for Bengaluru's nightlife: all business establishments, including restaurants and bars, will now be allowed to stay open until 1 a.m. This decision is expected to boost the city’s revenue and bring new energy to its nightlife scene.

Under the new directive, businesses holding licenses such as CL-4, CL-6 (A), CL-7, and CL-7D will be able to operate from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. This extended operating window is aimed at meeting the demands of clubs and restaurants that have long sought longer hours to accommodate their patrons and increase their revenue.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Hotels’ Association (BBHA) has warmly welcomed this move. BBHA president PC Rao praised the decision, noting that it would significantly enhance Bengaluru’s nightlife. Rao highlighted that the extended hours would not only improve the city’s entertainment scene but also create more job opportunities within the food and beverages sector. This, in turn, is expected to provide a much-needed boost to local businesses operating within the BBMP limits.

This decision comes after a previous request from restaurant owners for 24-hour operations, which was not approved by the former chief minister, Basavaraj Bommai. The current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had previously expressed support for business establishments in his budget speech, and this new order aligns with that vision. The change is anticipated to transform Bengaluru’s nightlife and respond to the growing demands of its vibrant business community.

Overall, the new operating hours represent a notable shift in Bengaluru's regulatory environment, reflecting the government's commitment to supporting and revitalizing the city's business sector.
