Thai king Vajiralongkorn marries Suthida, ex-flight attendant

Vajiralongkorn met Suthida on a Thai Airways flight, where she was working as a flight attendant. Suthida joined the palace guard in 2013 and became commander of the king's security unit.  

Bangkok: Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn on Wednesday married the commander of the king's security unit and his consort Suthida Tidjai, two ahead of his official coronation. 

Vajiralongkorn met Suthida on a Thai Airways flight, where she was working as a flight attendant. Suthida joined the palace guard in 2013 and became commander of the king's security unit.  She was made a full general in the Royal Thai Army in December 2016. Moreover, she became the deputy commander of the king’s personal guard in 2017

The 40 years old is now the country’s queen. She will be now known as Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya.

Sixty-six old Vajiralongkorn became the constitutional monarch after the death of his father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 2016. 

Vajiralongkorn was married thrice before this to Princess Soamsawali Kitiyakara, actress Yuvadhida Polpraserth and commoner  Srirasmi Suwadee. He is also the father of seven children. 

Vajiralongkorn is the tenth monarch of the Chakri dynasty and is also known as Rama X. he is also the oldest Thai monarch to ascend to the throne.
