The 39-year-old professional racer and TV host reportedly crashed her jet-powered car in an attempt to break her land speed record in the Alvord Desert, United States.
Los Angeles: American professional driver and Television host, Jessi Combs, breathed her last on August 27, in an attempt to break her record, police said, on Wednesday (August 28).
In an official statement, officers in the north-western US state of Oregon stated that Jessi Combs' car crashed on Tuesday (August 27) in the Alvord Desert where she was declared dead.
The 39-year-old professional racer earned herself the "fastest woman on four wheels" title in the year 2013 after she clocked 398 miles (641 kilometres) per hour.
The police alleged that the crash occurred while "attempting to break" her previous record.
In a shakedown run, in October, Combs set a new top speed of 483.2 mph
Jessi Combs had appeared on several US television shows including the famous "Mythbusters", as she previously tried to break her record in October 2018.
