Riyadh: The Space Club, a joint initiative by ISRO and the Science India Forum Saudi Chapter, was inaugurated at 10 International Indian Schools in Saudi Arabia. This is the first such initiative by ISRO outside India, aimed at engaging with Indian students in the Gulf region and showcasing India's advancements in space exploration.
The inauguration ceremonies were held both online and offline from 11:30 am to 1 pm yesterday, with students participating from specially arranged halls in all schools. Science India Forum Saudi National President Biju Mullassery presided over the function. Former ISRO Chairman Dr. Kiran Kumar delivered the keynote address. Focusing on the purpose, design, milestones, challenges, and commercial aspects of space exploration, Physical Research Laboratory (ISRO) Director Dr. Anil Bhardwaj explained various aspects of space exploration programs to the students.
Indian Institute of Science and Technology Chancellor Dr. B.N. Suresh encouraged the students to consider a career in space science and emphasized the importance of science and mathematics. Principals of respective schools and Indian Embassy First Secretary Dinesh Sethi also spoke. The Science India Forum organizers opined that this event is a significant step towards promoting space science education among Indian expatriate students in the Gulf.
