Kapil used to work alongside his mother as a labourer. While his mother cut wheat in other people's fields, he assisted her with the work.

After being electrocuted by a water pump, Kapil fell into a coma for six months. His father had lost hope of his recovery, but his mother remained steadfast.

Kapil sold tea and set up a vegetable cart to support his household and make ends meet.

When Kapil began practicing Judo, the villagers mocked him, doubting his ability to succeed. Despite the ridicule, he remained dedicated and continued his training.
