Sexist is not the new sexy: From Sripakash Jaiswal to Azam Khan who thought otherwise

In a world where people think ‘sexist’ is the new sexy, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan added to the fire. While the leader apologised for his objectionable remarks against BJP member Rama Devi, it seems like we have a strong history of men getting into trouble for making such remarks

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Thursday (July 25) made a “sexist” remark against BJP member Rama Devi during a discussion on the Triple Talaq Bill. He said, ““Aap mujhe itni acchi lagti hain ki mera mann karta hai ki aap ki aankhon mein aankhein dale rahoon (I like you so much that I want to keep looking into your eyes).”

While he apologised to Devi in the Lok Sabha after a huge uproar, Khan is not the only one to make “objectionable" comments against women. Congress leader Digvijay Singh, Trinamool Congress leader Tapas Pal and Congress leader Sriprakash Jaiswal are just a few of the many who have gotten into trouble for making such statements which they probably thought were sexy but ended up being termed sexist.
