The Congress opposed abrogation of Article 370 and said Jammu and Kashmir will turn violent. But there is peace and positive changes in the region, say reports. Will Congress accept the change, or it just can't?

Congress had vehemently batted against the removal of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Even after ruling India for over five decades, the article remained the same, forcing the situation in Kashmir also to remain the same. The talks with arch rival Pakistan always failed, ceasefire along LoC violated all the time and people in Kashmir always lived in fear of another attack. Nothing changed for decades till Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah recently announced the abrogation of  Article 370.

The Congress opposed it with all its might stating this will lead to more violence in Jammu and Kashmir. But now, after a week of the announcement, reports claim that Jammu and Kashmir is returning to normalcy and is expected to go through a sea of changes benefitting the people living in the now union territory.

But even after this sudden change, there has been no change in the Congress as following the president (President of AICC) is the only precedence followed by the leaders of the party. Sonia Gandhi has returned as the Congress chief.
