AIADMK leader injured after man hurls glass bottles at BJP campaign vehicle

Ramanathapuram: Tension prevailed in the Muslim-dominated Periyapattinam on Monday, after an unidentified man began to pelt empty glass bottles at the BJP candidate's campaign vehicle at Ramanathapuram Parliamentary constituency, Tamil Nadu.

While BJP candidate Nainar Nagendran and minister for information technology M Manikandan escaped unhurt, Thirupullani AIADMK office-bearer A Udayathevan (55), who was following the campaigning vehicle by foot, was hit on the head and he suffered severe head injury.

A case has been registered at the Thirupullani police station, and the officials are yet to arrest the culprit.
