Vellore: The Election Commission (EC) on Monday recommended to President Ram Nath Kovind that the polling in the Vellore Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu be cancelled over suspected use of money power to influence the voters.
The decision to recommend the cancellation of elections came after a large amount of cash was allegedly seized from DMK candidate Kathir Anand’s office a couple of days ago. An amount of Rs 11.53 crore was also seized from Anand's father Duraimurugan's cement warehouse in Vellore.
Vellore is schedule to vote on April 18 in the first phase of elections in the state.
