Lucknow: As polling is underway in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Monday (May 6) in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha election, several students from the city were seen near polling stations offering free soft drinks to people and clicking selfies with the voters' inked fingers. This initiative came after Uttar Pradesh had only 58% voter turnout during the 2014 Lok Sabha election.
The students came up with this idea to encourage people to go to polling stations and cast their votes. Out of 80 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, 14 went to polls on May 6. The Lok Sabha results will be announced on May 23.
