The Karnataka Congress confronts another problem, this time from the Christian community. As the state gears up for the first phase of Lok Sabha election on April 18, former Karnataka minister J Alexander resigned from the Congress highlighting his anger against the party for having failed to represent the Christian community in the Lok Sabha seat allocation in the state. Alexander said he appealed to the Congress leaders in Delhi and Karnataka to allocate seats to Christian leaders either in Bengaluru Central, Mangaluru, Karwar or Bidar, “but the party failed in accommodating Christians”. Many Christian community members are upset with the party over this non-allocation of seats, which prompted his resignation, Alexander said.
