In India, menstruation has always been surrounded by taboos and myths. Even a mere mention of the topic has always been behind closed doors and hushed. Till date the cultural and social influences appear to be a barrier of progress of knowledge on the subject. In some parts of the country menstruation is still considered to be dirty and impure.
