An inspiring tale of a young man has surfaced from Guwahati, Assam, who did not let his disability define him and became an idol for thousands of people around the world.
Anwar Hussain was returning on his motorcycle from the last day of his matriculation exam when he had a tragic road accident and got gravely injured. He broke his backbone and faced serious damage to his spinal cord.
Due to his difficult financial situation, he was not able to receive proper healthcare and treatment, thus losing his ability to walk. Nobody reached out to support him during his tough times, and later, with the support and encouragement from his parents, Anwar moved to Guwahati in search of a sustainable job opportunity.
Talking about his empowering journey, Hussain said to Prasar Bharti Shabd, "I was a normal boy. In 2015, I met with an accident while returning after giving a matriculation exam. I went through many treatments, but nothing went well. I was totally demotivated and devastated."
"But my parents supported me very much. With that inspiration, I came to Guwahati and started looking for many job-oriented options," he added.
Initially, he was faced with many hardships; however, it was not enough to shatter his dedication. He decided to start working as a food delivery person and started distributing food from door to door.
It is a strenuous job that requires perseverance and resilience, something Anwar had from the beginning. After witnessing several ups and downs in his life, he has now become an inspiration for many people around the globe.
"Many people have commented that I cannot achieve anything in life. But now I do door-to-door food delivery and also have a family with a baby boy," he said.
He earns around Rs. 20,000 per month and was recently blessed with a baby boy. Today, he is capable enough to raise a child and support a happy family.
Talking about inspiring people and earning a livelihood, he said, "I feel happy when people get inspired by me. If I can do it, then anybody can do it. Not only food delivery, one can do many other jobs for their livelihood."
