Woman loses both ears in quarrel over water in Kolar

Kolar: An argument over drinking water from a cistern resulted in a woman's ears being cut. The squabble over water began on May 7. As per the norms in the village, a person can only fill up to four pots of water but the victim, Indrani claimed that her neighbour, Yashodamma, procured 8 pots of water and had kept  another pot under the tap. When Indrani tried to collect water, Yashodamma reportedly threw her pots away. This resulted in a quarrel between the two neighbours. On May 9, Indrani was allegedly attacked by five people. They grabbed her ears and cut them with a blade. She was taken to SNR Hospital where she underwent surgery.
