Tamil Nadu Police rescue 2 turtles from Thoothukudi warehouse

Thoothukudi: In a shocking incident, two turtles and a turtle shell were seized by the Thoothukudi Police on Thursday after they received a tip-off about few men trying to sell turtle meat.

Upon receiving information, the police immediately rushed to the spot to arrest the culprits. But, seeing the police officials approaching the area, the culprits fled from the place. While searching the spot in Fatimapura, the police found two live turtles and a shell of the other in a warehouse.

The police rushed the turtles to a veterinary hospital for medical tests and later handed over them to the forest range officials who released them into the sea. The police have launched a hunt to arrest the culprits.
