Coimbatore: The residents of the Irugur village in Tamil Nadu witnessed a 1,200-litre capacity fuel tank of a Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas which was on a sortie fell in an agricultural field on the city's outskirts on early Tuesday (July 2).
According to reports, the defence officials in Chennai confirmed that a fuel tank from Tejas aircraft fell and said "all (was) safe", indicating that there were no injuries. The Indian Air Force (IAF) said there was no damage on the ground it would investigate the mishap.
After the 1,200-litre additional fuel tank was dropped from the sky, agriculture labourers in Irugur village were shocked as it had caused a three-foot deep crater and a minor fire.
However, the reports claimed that the war-machine was later landed safely in the nearby Sulur Air Force station.
