Pathanamthitta: The Supreme Court today will pronounce its judgment on the review petitions challenging Sabarimala judgment of September 28, 2018, related to the entry of women into the Ayyappa Temple in Kerala. A total of 65 review petitions were filed against the order and a Constitution Bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi will pronounce its verdict on the pleas. The Constitution Bench comprising CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices RF Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra will deliver the review judgment.
Meanwhile, four women in southern India made history by entering the Sabarimala Temple where women of menstruating age have not been allowed for centuries. Bindu from Kozhikode and Kanakadurga from Malappuram entered the shrine on January 2. On January 3, Sasikala, a woman from Sri Lanka, came with ‘Guruswami’ and had the darshan of Lord Ayyappa. 36-year-old Manju entered the Sabarimala shrine on January 8.
