Thrissur: Malayalam writer and poet Ashita passed away at the age of 63 here at a private hospital in Thrissur, Kerala, on Wednesday. After fighting a prolonged battle with cancer, she breathed her last at around 12:55 am.
She has written around 20 books including poems, translations and children's literature. Some of her noted works include Vismaya Chhihnangal, Apoorna Viramangal and Ashithayude Kathakal.
She has been the recipient of several awards including the prestigious Padmarajan Award - Edaserri Award (1986), Lalithambika Antharjanam Award (1994) and Thathagatha (2000).
