Rameswaram: Following the serial bomb blasts in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday the railway divisional security commissioner inspected the security arrangements at the Pamban Rail Bridge on April 28.
After receiving information of a bomb threat at the century-old bridge, V Jeganathan, divisional security commissioner, Railway Protection Force, inspected the bridge and reviewed its security with bomb detection and disposal, and sniffer dog squads.
Superintendent of Police Omprakash Meena said security arrangements at the Sri Ramanathaswamy temple, public spaces and vital installations in the district would continue to remain in place. All hotels and lodges in Rameswaram and other parts of the district had been checked, and there was no cause for alarm, he said.
