Sub inspector of the west police station Nagaraja Meka had chained a lawyer on April 22 in Raichur, Karnataka. Following this, superintendent of police D Kishor Babu suspended Nagaraja Meka. The incident occurred when Veeraiah Swamy (the lawyer) had visited a hotel to parcel some food on April 22, a day before seconds phase of Lok Sabha election in Karnataka. Nagaraj Meka was on duty and was trying to get the shops closed, when he saw Veeraiah Swamy and took him to the police station and chained him. Lawyers had staged a protest against the treatment meted out to Veeraiah.
