Gadchiroli: Candidates of Maharashtra have stopped campaigning in the interior areas of Gadchiroli, Aheri and Armori after Maoists have called for a boycott of the Assembly polls. The Maoists have put up banners and posters urging the villagers to boycott the election. They also issued threats to people who disobey the boycott call.
Meanwhile, two days ago Shiv Sena MP Omraje Nimbalkar was slashed with a knife by an unidentified man during a poll rally in Maharashtra's Osmanabad district. The incident occurred when the leader was addressing an election rally at Padoli Naigaon village in Kalamb taluka.
Maharashtra’s 288-member Assembly constituency is scheduled to go to polls on October 21. The results will be declared on October 24. The tenure of the Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra Assembly will end on November 9.
