Nampally: Lakhs of people reached Nampally in Hyderabad to consume 'fish prasadam' on the first day of distribution of fish medicine. It is widely believed that the medicinal fish cures Asthma and other kinds of respiratory illnesses. This had been distributed free of cost for more than 175 years by the Bathini Goud family.
According to sources, patients from various states queued up at Exhibition Grounds to receive the 'prasadam' on Saturday, the day of 'Mrigasira Karti.' There are around 36 counters set up to supply 'fish prasadam'. The Fisheries Department have supplied 1,60,000 fingerlings for the 24-hour fish medicine distribution that will continue till Sunday 6 pm.
