Alappuzha: A Kerala woman has sought legal action against medical officers and doctors after they started cancer treatment on her. She was “wrongly” diagnosed with cancer and was subjected to chemotherapy.
The Alappuzha native underwent chemotherapy in Alappuzha medical college for a lump on her chest which was diagnosed as cancer by a private lab. Samples were also sent to Medical College Pathology Lab for diagnosis. Based on this test result, the doctors directed for chemotherapy and other treatments.
After the first chemotherapy, the test results of the Pathology Lab came, which showed no signs of cancer. Following chemotherapy, Rajani lost her hair and her skin has become dark. Recognising the lapse, her samples were further tested at Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cancer Centre.
Kerala health minister KK Shylaja has ordered a probe.
