Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in nine districts of Kerala. Red alerts have been issued in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Palakkad, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod and Kozhikode. Till Friday morning (August 9), a total of 330 relief camps have been set up housing around 22,500 people.

Meanwhile, heavy rains killed a total of 22 people in Kerala. Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has said that the airport will not be operational till 3 pm on August 11. According to reports, army personnel have been deployed in three districts — Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam for rescue operations.
