Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government set a record on the sale of liquor in the financial year 2018-19. The state government has earned Rs 14,504.67 crore in this financial year, making a jump of Rs 1,567.58 crore as compared to 2017-18.
This is the first time in history that the state has crossed the 14,000-crore mark in revenue from the sale of liquor. Maximum sale of liquor during the period took place in the month of August. This bears testimony to the fact that the August floods had no effect on liquor sales in Kerala. Presently, there are 306 Bevco outlets and 450 bars in the state which are under the purview of the Pinarayi Vijayan government.
