Bengaluru: Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murthy donated Rs 10 crore for flood relief in Karnataka. Heavy rains and floods have affected people in north Karnataka, and the state government has issued an alert in many parts of the state.
Meanwhile, Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa has agreed to release five lakh cusecs of water from the Almatti dam. He even visited parts of the state, including Belagavi, which was affected by heavy rain and floods. The Indian Army has deployed hundreds of personnel for rescue and rehabilitation work in the state.
According to reports, 237 villages in 32 taluks were affected by heavy rainfall and floods. Nearly 28,883 people were rescued from low lying villages in 11 districts of the state.
