Bengaluru: Heavy rains have caused the death of a total of 24 people in Karnataka so far.
Over 2 lakh people have been evacuated from flood-hit and rain-affected areas of Karnataka.
In the death toll which reached 16 yesterday, eight were reported dead in the worst-hit Belagavi district, two from Uttara Kannada, one each from Shivamogga, Mysuru, Udupi and three people lost their lives in Dharwad.
According to reports, 2,07,212 people have been evacuated by rescue teams comprising fire and emergency department personnel, State Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Indian Army.
In Belgavi alone, 1,410 km of roads, 211 bridges, over 4,000 government buildings, hundreds of water supply infrastructure, 2,000 electric poles were destroyed.
