Karnataka: Kumta residents plant saplings on potholed roads as protest

Kumta: Residents of Kumta, Karnataka, held a unique protest to oppose the indifferent attitude of officials who have left the road leading to the iconic Mirjan Fort neglected. The road, three kilometres long, is dotted with potholes and is not at all motorable.

They planted saplings along the entire stretch to draw the attention of the errant officials. Around 200 families live along this stretch, and it is next to impossible to use this road when it rains.
