Bengaluru: A video showing few locals merrily dancing on a waterlogged national highway in Belagavi is doing the rounds on the internet. The video which has gone viral has drawn a lot of criticism for showing merriment at a time when people of north Karnataka continue to suffer due to floods.
Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa visited flood-hit Belagavi today and also inquired about the condition in the region.
The Indian Army has deployed hundreds of personnel for rescue and rehabilitation work in the state. According to reports, 237 villages in 32 taluks were affected by heavy rainfall and floods. Nearly 28,883 people were rescued from low lying villages in 11 districts of the state.
The death toll due to rain-related issues has reached 11 as heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in many parts of Karnataka.
