Karnataka home minister MB Patil has come out in defence of the college lecturer who had been accused of posting “anti-India” comments on his Facebook profile.

Patil told the media that he found nothing derogatory or "anti-national" in the Facebook post. “The lecturer spoke about the destruction that war brings, what is wrong in that? I found nothing anti-national in the post,” said Patil.

He went on to say that certain slangs used could have been avoided and the college authorities will take suitable action.

Patil also stated that the act was nothing but moral policing and the ABVP members took matters into their own hands. Patil said he has asked the superintendent of police (SP) to take action against them.

Patil’s comments come after the ABVP members made a lecturer kneel and apologise for his post on Saturday. The incident took place at Dr PG Halakatti Engineering College in Vijayapura, Karnataka.
